LITOCLEAN joins the celebration of World Soil Day

World Soil Day is celebrated every December 5, an event promoted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Global Soil Partnership (GSA) with the collaboration of other national and international organizations. This year, under the slogan “Be the solution to soil contamination”, the aim is to raise public awareness of the great hidden threat that affects the world’s soils and to make visible the possible solutions and measures that we can take individually to mitigate the damage that contamination causes to human health and ecosystems.

Soil is a natural resource that plays a crucial role for life on Earth, providing energy, water and nutrients, supporting vegetation and providing a home for numerous organisms. But only healthy soil is capable of performing all these functions. Today, many pollutants from our activities affect soil health and can even contaminate water and the atmosphere. The consequence is the loss of soil resources and soil fertility, leading to a reduction in food production and food safety, which jeopardizes our health and that of ecosystems, and causes serious economic losses. This is why the last UN Environment Assembly (2017) agreed on an action plan to address soil contamination and its causes. It is everyone’s responsibility to take action to fight soil pollution, from the political class and companies to producer and consumer organizations, and all citizens in general. Soil contamination can seriously limit our survival and that of other organisms on this planet, so we must act now to prevent and mitigate the problems generated by existing pollution.

At Litoclean we are dedicated to care for and protect the soil of all and we have a strong commitment to the health of ecosystems and our own and we work with rigor and professionalism to protect the environment. That is why we join this much needed initiative to raise awareness about the importance of soil.
