Remedying through consensus: a perspective from the International Congress in Talara

Dialogue and coordination for the reactivation of oil activity with an environmental focus

Sergio Biedula, General Manager of TEMA-Litoclean Peru, presented ‘Environmental Remediation in the Amazon: Synergy between people and entities for sustainable results’ at the International Congress on Oil Reactivation in the Piura and Tumbes Regions, held from 12 to 14 August.

The lecture addressed the challenges facing environmental remediation processes in the Amazon, especially when they are carried out without coordination among those involved. Biedula highlighted the importance of establishing consensus among consulting firms, environmental authorities, indigenous communities, academic institutions, and opinion-forming entities. This coordination allows for greater efficiency, avoiding cost overruns, rework, and observations.

Unfortunately, it is common for these projects to be developed without a shared vision, which limits their scope and generates negative impacts both technically and socially. The proposal presented seeks to open spaces for dialogue and collaboration that integrate all perspectives.

During the conference organised by CAPPETROL and T&L del Oriente, Juan Chaw (Deputy General Manager), Christian Carrasco (Commercial Manager) and Llojan Chuquisengo (Environmental Management and Water Resources Specialist) representing TEMA-Litoclean Peru, actively participated in networking sessions, sharing experiences and strengthening ties with professionals from the energy and environmental sectors.
