LITOCLEAN, together with the UB and the company CLH, participated in the soil decontamination project in the Port of Mahón, the details of which are published in the October 2014 issue of the magazine Proyectos Químicos.

In a joint effort involving the Department of Microbiology of the Faculty of Biology of the University of Barcelona, the Research and Soil Remediation Department of LITOCLEAN and the company CLH, S.A., the process of recovering the land of a former hydrocarbon storage center in Cala Figuera, Menorca was carried out.
After having carried out several soil characterization studies to determine the feasibility of implementing a bioremediation technology, the decision was made to selectively excavate the soil and treat it using the aerobic biopile technique.
The project, which could be framed as a Green Remediation Project, given its minimal impact on the environment, successfully achieved the recovery of the land, meeting the stipulated deadlines and objectives.
