The prestigious publication talks to the manager of TEMA LITOCLEAN Peru about environmental management in the country.
The Manager of TEMA LITOCLEAN Peru, Albert Tasias, stars in an extensive interview in ENERGIMINAS magazine, a specialist in mining and energy, in which he talks about the management of the country’s environmental liabilities and their direct relationship with mining.
In the October edition of the publication, Tasias talks about the good work that Peru is doing with environmental management, although it is still in a phase of learning and acceleration of standards: “we are in a process that is perfectly normal and we could say that Peru is working in a quite serious way on the issue of liabilities. However, there is a difficulty: environmental management is divided by sectors and this means that today’s contamination problems are being addressed by the Ministry of Energy and Mines in a piecemeal fashion”.
Tasias also explains the usual steps and timeframes in this type of process: “The first thing is to have a regulatory framework and the second is to have a good inventory of contaminated sites. It is an effort that will take many years. It is realistic to think in a few decades”.
