The Rehabilitation Plan for an area of Loreto gets underway

Litoclean Peru’s team is in charge of the elaboration of the Rehabilitation Plan for a site impacted by hydrocarbons.

The Peruvian government has made a commitment to manage some contaminated sites in the Loreto region to remedy the social and environmental impacts that oil activity has caused in the Peruvian jungle. To this end, as part of the management of the Contingency Fund for Environmental Remediation, it has put out to tender the work of studying a series of impacted sites.

One of these services has been awarded to the TEMA LITOCLEAN MARAÑON Consortium, formed by Tema Litoclean S.A.C. of Peru and Litoclean S.A. of Spain, which will be in charge of preparing the Rehabilitation Plan. This is a site impacted by hydrocarbons in the Urarinas district (Loreto Region).

The project not only involves the characterization and design of the remediation of the impacted site, but also includes different levels of review, technical validation and approval by different governmental actors. Although the contracting entity is PROFONANPE, up to four ministries are involved, led by the General Directorate of Hydrocarbon Environmental Affairs of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, and the participation of federations representing the interests of the communities in the project’s area of influence.

The project started in August and is expected to last fourteen months.
