The consultancy will have a mentor and a mentee who will exchange knowledge and experiences with professionals from the USA.
For years, Litoclean has been associated with the ITRC (Interstate Technology and Regulatory Council) to be at the forefront of the development of environmental solutions and apply them in its projects.
This alliance is reinforced with the participation of the consultancy in the first edition of the Early Career Professionals program, which seeks to facilitate and accelerate the transfer of skills among professionals through an international mentoring system.
This initiative creates a bridge between people with a long career and the new workforce joining a member organization.
In this way, it is possible to inspire young recruits and retain them in the structures of which they form part, as well as capitalize on the knowledge and experience of the most experienced personnel.
The program, launched in September, is a one-year program with a Litoclean mentor and a Litoclean apprentice. Sonia Baluk, a Litoclean chemist with more than 17 years of experience in environmental studies, will mentor Paige LaPlant, an Iowa native with a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and a master’s degree in geology who has been working in the industry for the past year. On the other hand, Juan Herrera, a geologist in the remediation and soil investigations department at Litoclean for the past year, will be mentored by Steven Forrester, a North Carolina geologist with an extensive background who currently serves as the managing geologist in the Landfill Permitting area of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality Control.
In addition, Litoclean will continue to be part of several ITRC working groups on optimization of soil, water and sediment investigation and treatment techniques, emerging contaminants, microplastics, statistical processing and environmental data management, among others.
