The consultancy has studied, together with a UAB PhD student, the feasibility of bioremediation at sites contaminated with chlorinated organic compounds.
LITOCLEAN has been working for years to implement new techniques for soil and water research and decontamination. Its commitment to innovation and knowledge has led it to hire a PhD student who has developed her project in the company. The PhD consists of evaluating the feasibility of bioremediation treatments on sites contaminated with chlorinated organic compounds. The tests were carried out on three different sites, obtaining valuable results in all of them. As a result, LITOCLEAN redesigned the remediation strategy, moving from the planned chemical oxidation to a stimulated anaerobic bioremediation.
The university-business alliance is beneficial for both actors. Natàlia Blázquez and Joan Varias explain it in this video.
