Subsoil disturbance due to DEHP in two areas of a parcel of land a parcel of land industrial plant dedicated to the production of plastics.
Estimated volume of soil affected per zone: 1700 m3.

Objective and limitations

Compliance with remediation objectives according to quantitative risk analysis (DEHP 3500 ppm) and groundwater remediation.

Methodology applied

Ex situ physical remediation with groundwater treatment, soil washing and partial soil management.

Stages:

Drainage of the affected area for dry excavation and selective stockpiling.
Simultaneous treatment of extracted water and infiltration.
Interception trenches (barrier) for flow detour
Selective soil excavation.
Soil screening and pressure washing (hot water and biodegradants).
Water treatment.
Clean and treated soil replacement.
Compaction according to future use.
