No member state has met a number of waste collection and recycling targets
Waste collection and recycling continues to be a pending issue for the countries of the European Union, as evidenced by the fact that the European Commission has opened infringement proceedings against its member states for failing to meet their obligations in this area.
There is an urgent need to improve waste management practices, as demanded by the European organization, not only to comply with current legislation, but also to achieve a more sustainable world.

If we focus on areas that pertain to office-based activities, some relevant data that underscore the importance of these initiatives include:
- According to data from the European Commission, approximately 10 million tons of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) are generated annually in the EU, but only 40% is properly recycled.
- Improper management of WEEE can release toxic substances into the environment, affecting both human health and the ecosystem.
- The EU has established that by 2030 at least 65% of WEEE must be recycled.
At Litoclean we answer this call with a strong commitment to responsible waste management. We work closely with companies specialized in the collection and treatment of WEEE, ensuring that this waste is managed in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner.
Our efforts are not limited to WEEE management. We also implement comprehensive policies to reduce paper use and minimize plastic consumption. In our offices, we actively promote the use of alternatives to plastic, such as reusable bottles, cups and backpacks, and we take measures to reduce unnecessary printing, thus contributing to the reduction of our environmental footprint.
