The Tema Litoclean Group is a business benchmark in the defense of gender equality in the workplace.
March 8 is International Women’s Day, a day that aims to highlight gender inequality and demand the struggle for effective equality of rights between women and men in all areas. But the defense of equality should not remain on a specific date in the calendar, but should be a goal for society, institutions and companies every day of the year.
The Tema Litoclean Group is strongly committed to this issue and therefore carries out policies and actions in the company’s day-to-day operations that promote equality in the workplace.
The activity sector of the Tema Litoclean Group is highly masculinized and for this reason the company promotes the development of female professionals in the technical and scientific fields. The consequence of this corporate policy is that the presence of women in the Group in Spain is 41.3%, while the labor force survey of the National Statistics Institute (INE) for the third quarter of 2022 indicates that in the company’s sectors of activity the figures are much lower. For example, in the industrial sector, women represent 28.9% of the total workforce, 23.3% in decontamination and waste management activities and 29.9% in the field of engineering and architecture: technical testing and analysis.
In other company locations, such as Peru and Mexico, where the masculinization of the sector is even greater, the percentage of women in Tema and Litoclean is 32%.
In addition, it should be noted that more than half of the decision-making positions are held by women.
These figures are the result of a conviction on the part of the company’s management and a company culture that has permeated all departments. But the actions of Tema and Litoclean go further and, among other measures, they have developed and implemented a non-sexist communication manual in the company with the collaboration of the Observatori Dona, Empresa i Economia de la Cambra de Comerç de Barcelona (Women, Business and Economy Observatory of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce). After the internal audit, it was found that there was a high percentage of implementation of the guidelines suggested in the manual in documents from all areas.
Tema Litoclean Group will continue to act for equality in the workplace and encourages other companies to be responsible on this issue and show real and effective commitment beyond March 8.
