LITOCLEAN commemorates this date and the American researcher’s work for soil protection.
July 7 is International Soil Conservation Day, a date marked on the calendar since 1963 in honor of U.S. scientist Hugh Hammond Bennett, who worked hard to preserve this natural resource.
Bennett asserted that the protection of the soil directly influenced its productive capacity and that it was therefore very important to raise awareness of its importance in the environmental balance: “Soil productivity must occupy an increasingly prominent place in the thinking of the people and their leaders. Science must inevitably devote an increasing proportion of its efforts to the problems of maintaining and improving productive soil.”
LITOCLEAN has been working for more than 20 years to protect and care for soils and is committed to R&D with the development of pilot projects aimed at reducing the presence of pollutants in productive soils. The latest tests carried out are based on oxidation processes as well as aerobic and anaerobic bioremediation using biostimulants. Work is also being carried out on a trial aimed at fluidizing fuel by means of a thermal treatment from the surplus water vapor of a production system, which, in addition to advances in techniques to improve the quality of a productive soil, involves the recovery of a waste product to reduce environmental and economic costs.
LITOCLEAN’s involvement with Dr. Bennett’s legacy is absolute and that is why this day the company commemorates his figure and defends the importance of conserving such a precious natural resource as soil.
